flags

Yea.  The flags have arrived.  They has been a long time coming.  Putting flags at First Lutheran has be a long discussion of the pros and cons.  Finally the pros won the vote and I am very happy to see them in their proper place.

cleaning the kitchen

It was Miriam circle's turn to clean the kitchen.  I had heard that they have so few members that could clean it for they are a small circle.  I called the leader and asked if she would let me come to help them.  I belong to Mary circle.  They were very happy to include me and we had a great time getting it cleaned.  The kitchen had had a lot of use during Holy Week so it was a good time to do this clean up.  Church family is the best.

dinner

Three of my  classmates and I have dinner together each month.  The food is generally delicious and this night was no different.  We had Swiss chicken Reuben casserole.  It is a simple casserole that has just a few ingredients.  You use chicken breasts, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese slices, and 1000 island salad dressing.  Bake it for an hour and a half covered.  We also got to learn a new game called Millie Bourne.  It is a card game that simulates a auto trip.  Easy to learn and fun to play.  We had a great evening.

rag quilt

Making a rag quilt is a nice way to quilt because you quilt as you go.  As you make the packets for each square you are done with the quilting.  But that is when the work starts and all the clipping of each seam.  You must clip every quarter inch so when it is washed you will have a nice rag effect.  But don't do this in your home washer.  Always do this in a commercial washer and dryer as the amount of lint that comes off a quilt this size is enormous.  This quilt is for my daughter-in-law's sister.  Both of her children have a quilt made by Jax's grandma.

weight loss for men

A guy calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.

The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck. She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me."

Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up. The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as promised.

He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning, beautiful, sexy woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me". Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape.

Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised. He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program

"Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program."

"Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."

The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads, "If I catch you, your butt is mine."

He lost 63 pounds that week.

Becky Hunter Photography

This dad is currently serving in Afghanistan and couldn't be here for the birth of his first child! I have never met dad, but I contacted him privately through facebook as a surprise for mom. I explained to him what I'd like to do with his son's photo session, and asked if he thought he could get someone to take a couple photos for me so that I could merge his photo with my photo and create this image for them. I am very thankful to whomever took the photos of him, because they sent me exactly what I needed to make this work. You might find this hard to believe, but dad is actually kneeling down in the sand in Afghanistan! True!!! But after much photoshop work, and a whole lot of heart, I was able to create this breath-taking image for them! Although dad can't be here with his son at this time, I know he was here in spirit! I am thankful to have had an opportunity to do something so meaningful for a family that gives so much! This dad will not get to meet, touch, kiss or hold his son until he is nearly 9 months old ~ Don't ever take for granted the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make every day for the love of their Country! And if an opportunity ever presents itself that you can do something to give back to just one of these families, DO IT, with your whole heart! I look forward to meeting this brave soldier when he returns from duty! — Becky Ayers Hunter.

Easter Sunday morning

While I was having my coffee before church I looked up from the book I was reading and noticed the sky.  It had already snowed earlier but the clouds where just rolling.   Had these clouds been in North Dakota I would be alerted to get all my cars in the garage as soon as possible.  The clouds looked like it might hail.  In my family we always quoted the bible verse that said the following:  Red sky in the morning sailors take warning, red sky at night sailors delight.  But then they passed and the sun came up to quite a nice day.
