homemakers council

I serve on the home makers council.  We are the support for the 13 homemaker clubs in our area.  Our speaker was the head of the yellow ribbon program for the military.  If a soldier is deployed for active duty his family has a connection to get help if lets say the furnace quits on there is some other emergency.   There is a list of plumbers, electricians, and other services that will help the family with repairs.  It is staffed with volunteer workers which will do the calling to get the repair fixed. Very worth while organization. 

Garage sale

The First Lutheran Church held their annual rummage sale this past Saturday.  It was a lot of work but it was fun working with people that you see only on Sunday at church.  This year the revenue generated was sizable.  We took in 0ver 55 hundred.  Our profits are used for many different causes that the church members feel important. 

winter cleanup

My park smart really did control the dirt and water.   I just had to spray it off and then spray the lane it was in and  let it dry.  While I had the car out I thought I might as well wash it and do the first of many wax jobs it will get this summer. 

fixing the mailbox

I came home today from Peak and notices that my mailbox was crooked and leaning on the paper box.  On closer examination I found that it is rotted off at the dirt line.  I am sure that the plow played a part in its demise.  I will need a new pole this years.  Well since we still have frozen ground I did a Jerry rigged fix on it and put it on the summer list to fix.   All I did was zip strapped it to the pole next to it.  Hopefully it will last until I can get a new pole installed. 

Native American flutes

 

 

One of the first Lutheran Church members plays the Native American flute.  He has been teaching a class for about a year.  This Sunday his class preformed at our church service.  It was beautiful and haunting.  One of the numbers was Amazing Grace.  It was beautiful. 

NWTC

NWTC invited the car club to a dinner of sub sandwiches and the trimmings.  We presented our scholarship to one of their students that are in one of the two automotive degrees.  Just have free food and our members are there.  The engine was viewed by the men in the club which was built by the students in the college programs. It is a 350 small block chevrolet.  We will be selling raffle tickets for the engine and it will be drawn at our car show this summer.

This is a field at the old Lund farm.  I think two are swans and two are white geese.  The lakes need to open up so these birds can get in to swim and eat.   I noticed today that the ice on Twin lake looks rotten.  If we have nice weather it will sink soon.   But rain is in our forcast.
