pumpkins and bumpkins

My great niece and nephew came over to get the pumpkins that I grew for them. They told me they have a pumpkin carving kit to put different faces on the pumpkin.  That had better be an exceptional kit as they weigh up to 75 pounds.   We had a great visit and lemonade and cookies.  Rik, the dad helped me lift a few things that I could not manage while he was here.  We always have a great time when they visit me.  They told me how excited they are for Jamon and Natalie's baby to get here.  Even Paige is excited.  Tal told me that they are going out to visit to see the baby.  Tal has wanted to see their home for a long time.  That is just the type of kid he is.  He has been told how much he resembles his Uncle Jamon. Now there is a strong relationship between those two.

library

I have completed  an account at the public library for E-book check out.  I checked out an audio book called Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin.  I have been knitting and quilting all day while I listened to this book read to me.   I really did not have any trouble downloading the the apps to make my computer ready for the books to be checked out.  I have not figured out how to interface with my nook yet.  I have found the cord that connects my computer and the nook.  Next week I'll take the time to work on figuring it out.  I have listened to a second book called The Colonel's Dream by Charles Chessnutt.

apples and acorns craft show

this is a scrapbook book that I will use as my brag book

This is a box that opens into a scrap book of photos
I really had a successful craft show experience.  I have all my Christmas shopping done.  I also was successful at getting things for my grandson. But the best of the best I bought a Sherpa Alpaca hat.  It will be so warm.  I have a full length coat that does match the hat.  I will be really styling.  The box opens up into a scrap book that can hold a ton of baby Lonnberg pictures.  But it can also hold gift cards when I give it to them for Christmas.

I have seen this device on tv, but I actually got to use it at the craft show.

Church

Once a year this group gets together and sings during our church service.  They sing the old time gospel songs that we all have heard during the years to which we know the words.  It is wonderful.  The church is filled with a joyous sounds.  I for one cannot leave the church with a heavy heart.  I feel up lifted.  I find myself singing the songs all day.  After church I heard several say they wish this could happen more often.  That being true you still have to love the traditional Lutheran service.

Blast from the past

Speaking of a small world.  Here is a picture of two of my dearest friends.  They go to the same church in California.  The gal is Kathy Craigo.  I meet her in Beach and we became dear friends. Went to the same church.  When she moved to California after her husband died,  we only get to keep up on Facebook.  The fellow is Dave Heslop from Bemidji.  He is a family friend from back in the day.  His family and mine did many things together as we grew up.  Dave was a year older that me.  He was in boy scouts with my brother. What a surprise when I got an email with this picture attached. They just figured it out that they both knew me.   I surely would have loved to been at that coffee clutch after church.  I wondered why my ears were burning.  What fun life is.  And what connections we all have.

chile feed

President of the auxilliary
Our fry bread and chili supper was delicious, but it wasn't well attended. We will freeze the leftover chili and serve it on club night.  It is always nice when you do not have to cook for one night.  I am getting to know the new club manage Diane Anderson.  She is the one pretending to taste the chili over the pot.  Our next event is the meet and greet membership drive.  It will be from 1 to 4 this Saturday.  Prizes and good food.   Come see what the Auxilliary does.

over night guest

This gal stayed at my home Friday night.  She had a booth at the Apples and Acorns craft show at the Sandford  Center.  She grew up in Beach and she was a student at the school where I taught until she graduated in 2000.  Her parents where friends of mine and we went to the same church.  She married to an engineer for Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls.  He designs the new Arctic Cat snowmobiles.  She had a jewelry booth.  It was fun having her here even if it was such a short time.  Her sister was in my son's graduating class.  I asked her is she would have believed that she would be staying in my home  in Bemidji while she was in school. She laughed and of course would not have fathomed it.
