Over 80's party
Eunice, Miriam, and Sarah worked had at putting on this party at the church. No, not three women, but the many women that belong to those three circles. It was on May 17th so they decided to use that theme and put on a Syttende Mai party. Syttende Mai is the date that Norway signed their constitution. A little history was presented for us. We ate delicious Norwegian desserts. Almond coffee cake and fruit was a big hit. But the one that caught my eye, but unfortunately not my taste buds( gluten free) was the heart shaped waffles with lingonberry jam on them. I looked up lingonberry when I got home. It is a short evergreen shrub that bears edible fruit. It is found in the northern hemisphere. We also had Pastor Linnea read the names of the ladies that had pasts on this year and say a prayer. A candle was lit for each our program consisted of Melanie Hanson play her Hardanger Fiddle. She gave a brief history of her costume and her fiddle. We also had several songs by John Frankforth in Norwegian. My favorite was O Store Gud ( How Great Thou Art).
