benefit
I really enjoyed the benefit for Kelly. It was a nice day spent with my friends. It was held at the country club. There was enough room for this event. There was nearly 200 baskets. I bid on several things but the only one I won was a wall hanging from Mackenzie place. The others went over my spending limit. We had chamber music for entertainment. Some of the members even got up and danced. The food was delicious. There was salmon. meat balls, BBQed cocktail wieners and various dips, chips and veggies. We don't know the final amount that was generated.

purchase
This is what I bought at the Benefit. It was donated by Mackenzie Place and is a 3 dimensional picture. The pictures don't show how spectacular it looks on my cooper wall. My cooper wall does not photograph well as it reflects the light and washes out. But it is just perfect for that spot.

football
I love football. The crisp air and the sounds are wonderful. Saturday brought back memories of watching my son play from 5th grade through collage. My nephew Tal played football this year. He is in 5th grade. He ended the his season with one lost and 5 wins. Saturday he played in the play offs and lost his game 15 to 35. His team took 2nd place. He was very happy with that. What a difference all that exercise made in his body. He went from a 5th grader with baby fat to a young man very muscled. What a great experience. I hope he continues with this endeavor.

refrigerator
Troubles again. This time I found the true troubles I have been having with my ice maker. A seal was broken where the water supply comes in the frig. I turned off the water supply and cleaned up the water mess. I don't think I will get a new frig as every thing is working just fine other that the ice maker. But if I do get a new frig, mine would make a great garage frig for the overflow. I appliances must have be purchased at cheap - R- us as I have replaced the dryer, the water softener, and the ice maker.

frog
There was a man who loved to fish but all through his life he could not afford a boat so he fished from shore. Then when he was he was in his 80's he could swing the price of a boat. He was very happy and fished everyday. One day while fishing he hear a voice say " Kiss me and I'll turn into a beautiful women. He shook it off as something in his mind. Then he heard it again. Kiss me and turn into a beautiful woman. He turn around as saw a frog who repeated the message. So he picked it up and shoved it in his pocket. From his pocket the frog said aren't you going to kiss me. The man said no. At 85 years old I would rather have a talking frog than a beautiful women.

painting
I am painting my hall. I have had the paint for over a year. I got it from my daughter-in-law. The hall took a beating when I moved in. It is taking two coats to cover the wall. This tan has more green that red in it so it is not rosy. There were three marks where the furniture rubbed the wall. It really looks fresh and new. It freshens the house when you paint. I still want to paint the kitchen a dark green. But that will have to wait.

Jax update
This is the picture I got from the kids labeled Jax in a Box. I laughed so much. I also got some pictures of his teeth. He has six that I can count. And the video I received have him taking his first steps. Wow, what a gift to open our phone to such treasures. His first birthday party will be November 2nd. He is isn't one until the 15th but we are all gathering for Jamon's 30th birthday party.

church
This Sunday and at the benefit we are to wear the tee shirt in support of Kelly and Pastor Corey. The benefit looks like it is up and running. Hopefully it will be a huge success. The Bemidji pioneer had a full front page on the Furhman's. We are all praying for a miracle.

first snow
This is the first snow that actually is staying on the ground. But I do understand that it will not be here too long as it will warm up next week. But it has made a wonderland when you look at the trees and the yards. But I have received the first blessing of my newly tarred driveway. It is clear and just wet. My road is not muddy any more. Ask me in a month or two if I am still as excited.

Pre benefit work
We had a lot of help Saturday morning as we numbered and wrote up the bid sheets. A number of smaller items were placed in baskets and wrapped. There are over 80 baskets. It was organized confusion. There are so many nice items that have been donated I have my eye on several items. I will want to be there near the end so I can maybe bid on them. The benefit is next weekend. Come to the country club 2 to 6 PM on October 26th.

septic
I think that I bought my straw bales too early. They have beautiful grass growing out of them. It finally did get cold enough weather to put my straw on the sewer system. There was a skiff of snow this morning. It did not stay as it warmed during the day it was gone. I laugh about this project as the first year I didn't know enough to cover my system. Luckily we had a ton of snow that insulated it for me. The next year I put 5 bales of straw on it. Too much. The next winter I put 3 bales on it. Still too much. This year I put 2 bales which is just right. It surely will not be such a job to romove it in the spring.

circle
My circle met on Wednesday. We had the best meeting ever. The bible study was on power as we were studying Deborah from the Book of Judges. Mary Circle has a wonderful group of women. They are so uplifting and positive. I was happy to share a Utube video that I got just that morning on the same topic. It was powerful. I left in such a good mood which carried me through the day.

Quilt talk
I did a quilt talk at my homemakers club this week. They asked for a talk on quilting, but that is such a huge topic. So I started with a slide show of a project from the start to finish in pictures. This quilt top was made in the 50's which is 62 years ago. My client wanted it to be a wall hanging. So I stippled it, sewed the binding on, and made a sleeve on the back for a curtain rod hanger to support it on the wall. Then I had brought with me ten quilts that I had made that had different quilting techniques displayed. I showed each and then talked about each of their highlights. It was fun. I also was the hostess serving coffee. We had apple pie made from the apples I got from my friend.

Kelly
Our church is planning a benefit for Kelly Furhman, our pastor's wife. She has cancer. It is being held on October 26th at the Country Club. My knitting group donated a knitting basket. The quilters donated a quilt. I donated a stone cross.
I just got an up date email and will post it here:
“Everyone is invited to buy “Amy’s Blend Coffee” at Caribou and put it in the bin designated for Kelly Fuhrman. Caribou is dedicating October to their Cancer care program and our Benefit for Kelly will receive all “Amy’s Blend” coffee purchased for the purpose of helping Kelly fight cancer. So – STOP by CARIBOU coffee! PURCHASE a pound of “Amy’s Blend”! PUT it in the Kelly Fuhrman basket! Then come to the BENEFIT on Oct. 26th and bid on great coffee (& many other great items!)”

Power Dam Road
interesting find |
The First Lutheran Church cleans 2 miles of highway on the power Dam Road.. This Sunday 12 or so people from the church met and picked up any and all the garbage that was found along that 2 mile stretch. This is done twice a year. I found that interesting stand of toad stool or mushrooms which ever they are. I just had to take a picture of it. It was tucked into the grass so well on examination I found it to be 8 to 10 inches tall.
