Horticulture show

 

Then on to the Horticultural Show.  I am interested in entering next year.  I saw that one of our church members won 2 blue ribbons. We are in the 12th district of the Minnesota State Horticultural Society.    It was held in the newly remodeled Bank building on 3rd street.  It was also fun to see what they had done with the inside of that building.    

Art in the park

I made it this year without buying something at the Art in the Park.  There were many things that caught my eye, but I refrained from the purchase.  All of the booths that had wood as their medium were great.  Chairs, cabinets, tables and the such were beautiful.  Also the jewelry was beautiful too.  this year the heat index was a lot lower.  A much more pleasant day.  I am sure that the vendors enjoyed it too.

This is the one I liked

The quilt show did not seem as big this year. The Headwaters Quilters put on their quilt show.  It was held at the Evangelical Free Church.  A friend and I toured the entire display of quilts liking some more than others.   We found a great idea for our next Festival of Tables table.  I am sorry to say that the quilts do not photograph well.  They are a lot duller, but interesting enough the photos sometimes show things you did not catch with your naked eye.  We both would like to be the winner of the raffles, but that didn't happen.

Kohan and Tal got surprised with a project that we had not discussed.  Several weeks ago we went to Despicable Me 2, so I decided it was time for them to make their own Minions.  Cupcake minions. As you see they had very good cupcake frosting skills.  They really had a great time.

The boys finished the bench we were building.  I had them sign the back with pencil and then they burned it into the wood making it permanent.  They were really proud of a job well done.  When their Dad's arrived they carried it in the pit.  next years project will be building a fire pit and then the bend can come up by it.  What fun we had solving the problems that came up with this project.

After all the clean up was finished on the car show all the members met at Giovanni's Pizza.  This is one of the perks of being a club member.  The club pays for everyone to eat.  During our meal all the thanks you's and announcements were made.  We were told that the gate was up and the engine auction was up.  Can't wait until the official accounting of monies is announced.
