visitors

Monday I will have my other nephew Kohan staying with me.  His Dad and his girlfriend stopped to see me to make plans for his Monday visits with me.  They were really styling on that 1100 Honda Shadow.  I never would have thought a white bike was sharp but that one surely is.  Must be the chrome.  He has the nicest girlfriend.  We had a really nice visit, but I found out something that is just devastating while we were out on a tour of my garden.  That is when I learned that I had rabbits in my garden.  We saw two of them munching on my plants.

You wreskly wabbits

I now know how Elmer Fudd felt.  I have rabbits that are getting into my garden.  So I have wrapped my fence in plastic snow fence.  That is the only way I could think of to prevent them from getting in.  If I could I would shoot the dang things, but then all the relative rabbits would come to their funeral and then I would have no garden.  The other day I found that my herb garden was tipped over.  I thought it was a straight line wind, but now I am thinking that it was a pesky rabbit trying to get my lettuce.  If you have been one that has read my blog for the past two years so will remember that I have had to fight many critters since I have moved here.  Remember the story about the frog invasion.  Skunks, deer, snakes, wolves, bobcats and many more have visited me.  Well add rabbits.

Hope this works

All the nurses out there

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen
mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and
gives him a partial sponge bat...h.

"Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"

Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only
here to wash your upper body and feet."

He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my
testicles black?"

Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate
from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment
and pulls back the covers.
She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles
gently in the other.

She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them,
Sir. They look fine."

The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says
very slowly, "Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen
very, very closely:

Are - my - test - results - back?"

cleaning the pickup box

After we got home from doing errands in town it was time to clean out the box of my pickup.  First Tal swept it and then we scrubbed it with a  broom.  we had to spray it out with the hose.  It really looks great now.  Ready to take the boys fishing Monday.

bench

At our safety meeting in the morning Tal and I decided that we would build a bench for my yard. After we did some computer research, drew up plans, we then went to Home Depot to get materials.  We set our goal to have the bench seat done before his Dad picked him up.  As you can see we did just that.   Next Monday we will have the plans ready for the bench legs.  Tal will do the sanding of the seat.  Next week I get the other nephew so I will leave some jobs that he will be able to do.  Tal went home tonight feeling tired and proud of a job well done.

fairgrounds church

Sunday I attended the 10:00 service of  First Lutheran Church.  It is held at the Fair grounds.  It is so fun.  I actually went to both the 8:30 and the 10:00.  I must have sinned a lot this week to have to be at two services in one day.  But I chose to sell tickets for the Festival of Tables at both services.  I really loved the second service. There were 110 in attendance.   I just might join in this summer.  I am such a traditionalist that I thought I would not really care for the outdoor service. I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it.  Rain or shine they are set up for any weather.  Loved it.

Ladder and tower

I have written about this ladder before.  I now want to show you it with the herbs up and growing.  The bottom tier is lettuce.  It is up high enough so the bunnies can't get too it.  I am so pleased with the results of this project.  The some of the members of car club thought they would make one too. Also, I have written about my strawberry tower.  I did not expect any berries this year as it takes a mature 2 year old plant to produce berries.  But as you can see I have a berry ready and one or two more setting on.  yum, yum.

ferns

I love putting in plants that I can go and get myself from the woods.  These ferns where growing in the ditch on Procyon Drive near where I live.  When I transplanted them I got a big portion of dirt that they where living in.  They didn't even realize that they had been moved.  I hope they are not too invasive or at least something that I can control anyway.  I love them.

hen and chicks

This year I added hen and chicks to my gardens.  I put them by my door to the steel building.  I hope that they will fill in the entire area. Just imagine what it will look like filled in with hen and chicks.  Note to self don't water these.

steel building

Tal and my second and last job that we did before we went in for lunch and an afternoon of play was to swept and organize my steel building.  We moved everything, swept and placed back what was needed to be store in that area.  I try to clean it once a year and that way I keep a better handle on what I have.  It is fun to work with Tal because he has such a good work ethic.  He also know his way around tools.  But this year I just had to tell him to move the four wheeler and the lawn mower and it was done.  The 4 wheeler's battery was dead so he put on the charger on it and then started it when it was charged.  That afternoon we watched on of the picking shows that were on the History Channel  which had one fellow that was a hoarder to the first degree.  Tal and I decided that they should hire us to organize their out buildings.

door lock fixed

My front door has been giving me problems.  The device that retracks to let the door closed would not do that when you went to close the door.  You had to turn the handle to pull it in that device to allow the door to close.  Tal and I worked on it on Monday.  He took it apart and we WDed the plunger and no luck.  We could manually move it, but not without a lot of difficulty.  So we thought we had to make a run for parts.  Then I remembered that I saved all the parts from the door I replaced on the back of the house.  I had replaced a regular door for a sliding glass door.  We went for the bag of parts and found that it was just the ticket.  We had the door fixed in no time.

new dryer

I spent my day Saturday washing and drying clothes.  My dryer broke and started to over heat.  It would then shut itself off.  I checked everything and it was the dryer malfunctioning.  Very dangerous.  So I shopped around and found that Home Depot delivers and sets up and takes the old one away for free.  Yes, I said free.  I bought an Admiral from them on Tuesday and it was delivered on Saturday.  But the funny part is that there is a central location for all deliveries and that is in Brainerd. So my dryer came from Brainerd not Bemidji.   But it isn't for me to question how a company does its business.  I am just happy with free.

shingles at the landfill

My nephew and I went to the landfill with the trailer full of my old shingles. I am glad I did not have to do it alone.  Backing the trailer down a sharp incline and unloading the shingles would have been difficult for me to do alone.  Well, maybe some of the landfill workers would have helped me, but then maybe not.  Anyway we went to Southside Restaurant for lunch.  It was a perfect lunch hour for all of us.

car club at my house

Car club Thursday's cruise had members hanging up posters for our car show.  They then headed out to my place for ice cream and cookies.  I think I counted 32 people at the party in the pit.  We then looked at my gardens.  It was fun hearing laughter and conversation in the pit.  When the last member arrived  he saw all the cars, but no people.  He glanced in my garage and saw no one.  He asked where is everyone.  I directed him to the pit.  He was amazed that I had tucked that many people in one spot comfortably and no one could see that they where there.

Keep everything original

A 65 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.

While on the operating table she had a near death experience. Seeing God
she asked "Is my time up?"

God said, "No, you have another 33 years, 2 months and 8 days to live."

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a
face-lift, eye-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck.

She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her
teeth! Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as
well make the most of it.

After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing
the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had
another 33 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the
ambulance?"

(You'll love this)

God replied: I didn't recognize you."

sheets

When one of our quilted died she had made provisions that the quilters would get a cash of money to spend on our ministry.   The first time we went shopping we purchased materials for tops.  This time out we bought sheets for just under 5 dollars that can be easily cut into back.  We also got needles thread and other notions.  What a great day and next fall we be fun for all the quilters.
