Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5th. It is celebrated nationwide in the United States and regionally in Mexico. The date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican hertage and pride, and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. It is a misconception that Cinco de Mayo is the Mexican Independence Day -- that is celebrated on September 16th.
The Mexican restaurant in Bemidji runs parties on the 5th and specials for their customers. People also use it as a reason to hold a party and have friends over.
