The blue rock

Don Haugan, a friend and classmate of mine told me the following story.  You have to love true stories.  They are the best. He recently retired from driving bus for 39 years for the Bemidji School System. During one of the school inservices that he attended he was given a blue rock that he kept in his pocket.  He had it in his pocket over 12 years.  He drove the bus that picked up the special students.  He had one pick up that was wheelchair challenged. That meant that he had to get out of the bus and ready the ramp. The family had two large black labs.  Twice a day pickup and return the dogs would both put their front paws on the first bus step and stay there until they got a treat.  This day the dogs were in the woods when he arrived.  So he put two treats in his pocket and preceded to unload the student.  The dogs arrived home and wanted their treats.  He gave them and finished his route.  When he got home he was surprised to find a dog treat in his pocket.  He just knew where that rock was.  His mind went into overdrive and he wondered just how much trouble(poop) he would have to go through to get his rock back.  The next morning he asked the parent if she would keep and eye out for a blue rock.  Well...... she said I found one on the apron of the garage.   You can't fool a dog.  They know the difference between rocks and treats.
